Why do I hike? What’s the obsession and where’s the thrill? These are questions I’ve been asked frequently and for those with inquiring minds I have a bit of a story to share if you care to read. Some of you may have heard it, some may not, but this is my story of self discovery and healing. It explains why I hike and offers a bit of insight of who I am.
For years I was plagued by chronic back, hip and all over body pains. I had a combination of misdiagnosed and untreated sports induced injuries and stress related pain (more on that later). Mt twenties were very challenging. My spirit wanted to explore the world and discover who I was, but my bodies depleting condition greatly dictated what I could do and who I wanted to be. So I did what I thought I should do and gave up on what I wanted to do. I began a career in retail, worked long and hard hours and honestly, became quite successful. That was until one of my hips went out and the direction of my life immediately did a 180.’ Everything I though I knew was turned upside down and I began to feel lost and abandoned.

Well I'm finally doing a Blog which is an amazing feat for me. I'm not much of a computer or technological type person, rather I'd say I'm more intuitive, full of energy and always dreaming about upcoming adventures. I do have a lot to say though, love to take photos and live life with everything I've got, so I would say blogging could be a great fit for me! Hiking, travel, photography, Yoga, my husband and Roxy our dog will be frequent topic of discussions, but you can also expect trials and tribulations of building your own home, starting up two businesses (both hubby and I!), and all the daily ups and downs we face. This blog is about my life and let me tell you, it's gonna be real!
- On a side note: Ryan and I are NOT into traditional sports like basketball, football and baseball. We prefer "extreme sports." We have beef to pick with ESPN, your damn basketball games are effecting viewing the Winter X Games. Does every game have to go into freaking overtime?! Not cool, seriously not cool.
Now off to bed, rise and shine is at 5 a.m. Tomorrow is a big day for me I have a hell of a hike planned ; )
